2ND ANNUAL LEIMERT PARK VISION THEATER FESTIVAL

A Community Festival of Theatre Staged Readings, Music, Arts, Culinary Arts and more …

Pasadena, CA, August 12, 2015– The Leimert Park Vision Theatre Consortium kicks off its 2nd Annual Leimert Park Festival of stage readings, community arts, music, culinary arts and more, starting Thursday August 27 thru 30th.

Opening night performance will feature special guest jazz artist Barbara Morrison and her big band in a performance of “Dinah Washington”, with closing performance by renown actor Ernie Hudson.
In addition 14 production companies have joined the celebration and the efforts to define the Leimert Park Vision Theater as the hub of great African American theater companies, artists, writers and performers alike. The 4 day celebration will pay homage to the theater companies no longer operating in Los Angeles with stage readings of plays from their archives.

La Mancha Gallery has agreed to curate and organize an Arts Tent that will house cutting-edge art from local talent as well as top renown artists in Los Angeles. Curated by Omar Holguin the selected artwork ranging from all sizes and mediums will include world renown artists like Ron Zeno, Mohammed Mubarak, Enoch Mack, Kevin T. Williams, Darren Smith-Robinson and many more …

The opening night reception with Barbara Morrison Performance of “Dinah Washington” will take place on Thursday, August 27th, starting at 7:00 PM at The Regency West located at 3339 West 43rd Street, Leimert Park, CA 90008. For the theater festival entire Leimert Park Village will come alive with music, dance poetry, art, theater readings, local food and merchants. The outdoor festivities are FREE and open to the public.
