“Pre-Hispanic Abstract” – New Works by Mexican Artist Xavier Yarto

Intense and colorful with abstract outlines, describes the tone of the event “Pre-Hispanic Abstract”, a series of acrylics presented by young Mexican Artist Xavier Yarto, set to coincide with the Downtown Art walk on Thursday June 11th, 2009.

A nuance eminently abstract, the work of the artist Xavier Yarto is inspired by the Pre-Hispanic culture of Mexico. Xavier defines his collection as a recreation of Mexican Archeology with a modernist language. The self taught artist has been dedicated to painting for more than 10 years. He always an interest in developing the abstract language, the work is more specific and evident in its aesthetic composition. Using a chromatic range that is concentrated in the basic colors, the Artist incorporates ocher tones and terra cottas to emphasize the characteristics and elements that integrate the Pre-Columbian iconography. From this form, works like The Warrior (El Guerrero), Ball Player (Jugador de Pelota), The Flutist (El Flautista) and The Representation of Tláloc arise from the past.

Pre-Hispanic Abstract” will be on display in Downtown Los Angeles from June 11 to July 6, 2009 at 408 South Spring Street, Los Angeles, CA 90013 (easy parking across the street). Artist Reception took place on Thursday, June 11th, 2009 12-9 PM.

Curatorial Assistance

A selection of about 30 new works by Artist Xavier Yarto was presented during Downtown Artwalk monthly event and will run all month long. Xavier uses a chromatic range that is concentrated in the basic colors, the Artist incorporates ocher tones and Terra-Cottas to emphasize the characteristics and elements that integrate the Pre-Columbian iconography.

Art Installation

Art Installation was set against a 3200 sqft building located inside the Continental Building in the Old Bank District of downtown.  30 new works by the artist Xavier Yarto where on display all month long. Social Media and Marketing was used for the Downtown monthly artwalk event
