LEGACY ON CENTRAL: An Art Group Art Exhibition

Los Angeles, CA, February 2026 – Legacy on Central: A Celebration of Black History Month and Black Excellence opens this February at Delicious at the Dunbar, located inside the historic Dunbar Hotel at 4229 South Central Avenue, Los Angeles.

The exhibition is curated by award winning curator Omar Holguin, founder of La Mancha Gallery. Known for presenting exhibitions that connect cultural history with contemporary practice, Holguin brings together eleven established artists working across photography, painting, and mixed media.

Legacy on Central presents work rooted in lived experience, cultural memory, and present day vision. The exhibition traces a continuum between historic legacy and contemporary expression. Each artist contributes to a larger dialogue on Black artistic leadership, cultural continuity, and sustained creative excellence.

The setting plays a central role. The Dunbar Hotel stands as one of the most important Black cultural landmarks in Los Angeles. During the early and mid twentieth century, the hotel served as a vital hub of Black social, political, and artistic life. Musicians, writers, visual artists, and activists gathered here during segregation, when few public spaces offered access with dignity. Central Avenue became a corridor of innovation, enterprise, and cultural influence that shaped the identity of the city.

By presenting contemporary Black artists within this historic site, Legacy on Central creates a direct conversation between past and present. The exhibition affirms the Dunbar as an active cultural space, not a monument frozen in time. Art operates here as living expression. Legacy functions as an active force shaping the present and guiding future generations.

Legacy on Central is on view throughout the month of February during regular business hours at Delicious at the Dunbar.

About the Curator
Omar Holguin is a Los Angeles based curator and the founder of La Mancha Gallery. His work focuses on exhibitions that bridge history, place, and contemporary artistic practice, with a commitment to amplifying cultural narratives that shape community identity.
