II. TRANSFORMATION
Finding New Frequencies
Scat celebrates the creative relationship between voice and instrument, particularly the musical exchanges
that occur when the human voice responds to, imitates, or improvises alongside instrumental sound. The
collage incorporates paper cutouts, music notation, and photographic fragments taken from Skira’s earlier
artworks. These elements are rearranged into a new visual composition, allowing existing imagery to become
the starting point for another creative expression. This process echoes musical sampling and improvisation, in
which familiar material is reinterpreted to produce something different. The relationship between the figure and
the musical notation suggests an exchange between voice and instrumental sound.
