Arts @ Delicious
at The Dunbar
A monthly exhibition series at The Historic Dunbar Hotel
produced by La Mancha Gallery
Overview
Executive Summary
Arts @ Delicious at The Dunbar is a monthly rotating exhibition series produced by La Mancha Gallery and hosted at The Historic Dunbar Hotel on Central Avenue in Los Angeles. Launched in September 2025, the series brings together established and emerging visual artists in one of South Los Angeles' most storied cultural landmarks — the site that once served as the cultural heart of the Black community during the Jazz Age.
The program is designed to activate the Dunbar's legacy through contemporary art, centering artists whose work reflects the rich multicultural tapestry of Los Angeles. Each monthly installation transforms the space into an immersive gallery experience open to the public, drawing community members, arts patrons, cultural institutions, and media.
The inaugural exhibition, Legacy on Central, featured nine Los Angeles-based artists and set the tone for a series that prioritizes cultural storytelling, community engagement, and artistic excellence.

Impact & Outcomes
The inaugural edition established a strong foundation for the series and demonstrated clear demand for culturally rooted, community-accessible exhibition programming in South Los Angeles.
Artist Participation & Diversity
Nine LA-based artists representing diverse cultural backgrounds, disciplines, and career stages — including Latinx, Black, and multicultural artists rooted in the Central Avenue community. Mediums spanned painting, photography, muralism, street art, and mixed media.
Community Engagement
The public opening reception drew community members, arts patrons, cultural institution representatives, and media to The Historic Dunbar Hotel, reinforcing the venue's continued relevance as a center of cultural life in South Los Angeles.
Expanded Access
Integration with Delicious at The Dunbar broadened the exhibition's reach beyond a traditional gallery audience, introducing visual art to attendees who came primarily for the dining and social experience — lowering barriers to entry organically.
Institutional Recognition
La Mancha Gallery's broader body of work has received recognition from the Mexican Embassy, the Central Avenue Jazz Festival, and multiple LA-area cities — building a track record that spans nearly two decades of community-centered cultural production.
Cultural Identity Established
Legacy on Central established a clear, grounded cultural identity for the series — one rooted in place, history, and community. By anchoring the debut exhibition to the themes of Central Avenue's legacy, the program positioned itself as a meaningful continuation of the artistic tradition the Dunbar Hotel has represented for nearly a century. The series has begun to generate institutional interest and is building a reputation as a signature program within the LA arts calendar.
