@ The 23rd Central Avenue Jazz Festival
Pasadena, CA, June 2, 2018– The Art Pavilion 2018 Returns at the 23rd Central Avenue Jazz Festival!
A 30’x120′ foot tent that will house cutting-edge art from top artists in Los Angeles as well as live painters and multimedia installations.
Hosted by independent award-winning curator Omar Holguin from La Mancha Gallery the selected artwork ranging from all sizes and mediums that will include live painting presentations by renown muralists and artists EnkOne, and Nick the Artist. Other artists include Dominican Latin Master artist David Taveras that will be featuring the “Artist Poetry Series” a selection of works matched with poems inspired by the works, talented artists like Kevin T. Williams, Darren Smith-Robinson, Wendell Wiggins, Kraig King, LP Aekili Ross, Ron Zeno, Mario A. Hernandez, Piece by Piece Nonprofit Organization and many, many more. This year we are proud to be featuring the artwork of Mohammed Mubarak, a selection of large works of iconic figures that have transformed the culture and the people of the United States.
Directly across from the historic Dunbar Hotel, the beautifully-restored mecca for jazz legends of the 1930’s and 1940’s, virtually all of the artists represented had personal and emotional connections to the neighborhood and the African-American jazz culture which had flourished there in decades past. Many artists participating have achieved widespread recognition, even worldwide acclaim.
The Central Avenue Jazz Festival is a yearly event that takes place on the last week of July at the South-Central section of Los Angeles between 42nd and 43rd Streets in front of the historic and newly renovated Dunbar Hotel. This celebration of community arts and music is an event that celebrates the rich cultural history of Los Angeles Central Avenue vibrant jazz scene since the 1930′s.
The 23rd Central Avenue Jazz Festival will be on July 28th & 29th, 2018 from 11am to 7pm,
This is a FREE family friendly community event. Parking in the immediate area is limited, the best way to get to the festival will be Uber, Lyft and public transportation. The closest Metro blue line stop is Vernon Avenue.
