Diva celebrates musical genius through the relationship between the human voice and the piano. Constructed
from salvaged piano components, an altered wooden figurine, papier-mâché, broken jewelry, and wire, the
artwork transforms fragments of musical instruments and decorative objects into a commanding sculptural
figure. The arrangement brings together musical history, individual expression, and the visual language of
performance. Components once associated with producing sound become elements of the figure’s
appearance and identity. The work celebrates the extraordinary possibilities that emerge through the
relationship between vocalist and instrument.
