Master Blaster presents an inhabitant of Skira’s imagined future whose purpose includes sharing music with
others. The artwork incorporates salvaged speaker heads, altered amplifier components, an afro comb, and a
functioning Bluetooth speaker. These materials are arranged into a futuristic portrait in which objects
associated with sound have become part of the figure’s physical form. Skira imagines this inhabitant flying
overhead, distributing music and making it available to those below. The functioning audio technology
reinforces the relationship between the sculpture’s physical construction and its imagined purpose. Master
Blaster envisions a future in which music circulates freely and remains essential to everyday life.
